Ordering a Deck |
If you know what you want then Click here to go to the ordering page If you have not ordered from us before then you might like to look at the following information to give you an idea of what might suit. We are also happy to chat to you about what we can do. We cut our decks to specifically fit the shape of your coaming, so when you order please let us know the make and model of your kayak, the decks are hand crafted in Melbourne, Australia and will take up to 4 weeks, if you need it quicker than that you will need to ring us to chat about your timing. Mob 0488 392 837. If we do not have a pattern for your kayak we will get back to you and ask you for a tracing, if you send us a tracing please put your name and number on it - we receive lots of tracings and they can get mixed up. Your tracings MUST be done on plastic, split open a bin liner and use that, click here for instructions. We will not accept fabric or paper tracings. We have over 2,500 patterns so we have quite a few designs covered but not all. Measuring your waist. Sit in your kayak and measure around your body - level with the top of the coaming. This will be more than your standing measurement, don't worry we wont tell anyone. Do NOT give us your pants size and don't give us the vanity measurement sucking your guts in if you want to be comfortable paddling, the size is on the inside no one will see. Whitewater DecksStandard deck - this comes in 3mm neoprene and is a great all rounder for level 1 and 2 water. The fabric is a double weave so has some abrasion resistant properties and will not pill. The deck keeps it shape and will last a number of seasons. Suitable for ultra light (6mm) extra light (8mm), light (9mm) and medium cord (10 mm) only. Mid-Kevlar deck - this comes in 3mm or 5mm neoprene, the deck is shaped for extra hold and has a 7 cm kevlar trim on the edge. The kevlar protects the edges of your deck from damage, this could be from paddle slap, rescues or rough and tumble in the rapids. This deck is built to last, we know people are still using these decks 10 years plus after they have been crafted. If you want a deck that is easier to put on then the 3mm deck is the one to go for, the 5mm deck is not as hard to put on as it was in the past, the basic design has been changed. This deck would typically be paired with the medium cord, if you are surf. You can also chose to go half kevlar so the kevlar trim goes hip to hip around the front of the kayak. If you are surfing or doing big drops we would recommend the heavy cord, but be warned the heavy cord is a real challenge to put on.
We have now introduced a flange for all of our decks styles (except the half deck), you will see the option in the drop down menu on the ordering page. The flange is 5cm of fabric that extends past the bungey from the back corner around the front to the other corner at the back and is for a super dry paddle. How does it work - it's like magic! the extra fabric keeps the water away. If you want a full flange all the way around please let us know in the comments.

Sea Kayaking DecksHalf-deck - this is a great way to protect your legs and stop spray coming into your kayak. Made with 3mm neoprene, and depending on the size of your kayak may have ridge bars to give it some height and stability. Budget deck - this is a stretchy deck, easy to get on and off and made for the casual paddler. Suitable for extra light and light cord only Standard Deck - for sea kayaking we recommend the 3mm neoprene. The standard deck is a great all rounder with a double weave fabric that is abrasion resistant. This deck keeps it shape and will last a number of seasons. Suitable for extra light (6mm), standard sea kayak cord (8mm) or medium cord (10mm). For fibreglass or kevlar kayaks we will only use an extra light or standard cord. On plastic kayaks we can put the medium cord and also we will put additional ruberisation onthe inside so please let us know what your kayak is made of in the ordering process. Mid-Kevlar deck - for sea kayaking we would usually only use 3mm neoprene, the deck is shaped for extra hold and has a 5cm or 7 cm kevlar trim on the edge - for sea kayaks this will go hip to hip around the front of the coaming. The kevlar protects the edges of your deck from damage, this could be from paddle slap, rescues or rough and tumble in the surf. This deck is built to last, we now people are still using these decks 10 years plus after they have been crafted. This deck would typically be paired with the light cord or medium cord. If you have a kevlar or fibreglass kayak we will only use an extra light (6mm) or standard (8mm). if you think you want a medium we will need to have a chat please ring us on 0488 392 837 Optional extras: Zips - We can fit a zip to your deck. There are two options, one in the deck so you can access gear during your paddle or one that goes all the way up the tube - this is ideal for multisport paddlers who want quick access during races Pockets -We can attach a pocket to the front of your deck for maps etc, we will want you to think about where and how big you want it. Pockets are not waterproof.
Anchorages/Loops - we can put a series of loops down the side of your deck so you can tether equipment e.g. camera, gps etc CustomisationsIf you can think of a customisation you want, we can probably make it for you, if you can sketch it out, great! especially if there are some dimensions on it. Usually it is great to be able to talk about it a bit too. Call us on 0488 392 837 if you have any questions. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
